Authors I Need to Read for the First Time

There are quite a few authors that I am ashamed to say I have not read. I have heard nothing by great things about the authors below, and I'm really excited to dive into their works.

Sarah Waters
I'm planning to start with...

But I'm also interested in...

Daphne du Maurier

George Orwell

Gail Carriger

Have you read any of these? What authors are you excited to read for the first time?

  1. I can confirm that Sarah Waters, Daphne du Maurier and George Orwell are all worth reading. ;) Animal Farm's a pretty good place to start with Orwell because it's so short, but it packs a real punch! Frenchman's Creek by du Maurier's great, too; that's the first book of hers I read and it was so much fun. :D Affinity by Sarah Waters is good, too, although it's probably the gloomiest of her novels.

I still need to read some Gail Carriger, though! I own Etiquette & Espionage and Soulless, and I'm determined to cross at least one of them off my TBR soon. :)

    1. Your blog is always reminding me that I haven't read any du Maurier! I thought about starting with Animal Farm, but I already know so much about it, I decided to start with 1984 instead!
      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I loved Rebecca and I've also read her short story The Birds, which the movie was based on. Enjoy!
