Weekly Wrap-Up: Check out my Newest Blog Series!

What's New:
I started a new series here on the blog! I have titled it Tale as Old as Time and it will showcase some of my favorite (and beautiful) old books I own. I'm still playing around with format and what-not, but please check it out (linked below for Wednesday) and let me know what you think!

What I Read:
Since my last wrap-up, I have finished the audiobook of Howard's End by E.M. Forster (review can be found below) and Just One Day by Gayle Forman (review to come next week.)

Next I will be picking up Nimona by Noelle Stevenson and after that, I'm not sure- we will see what I'm in the mood for!

What I Bought:
Just one new book this week. I need to get this one read before taking my teacher certification tests, and it makes me feel a little less anxious just knowing I own a copy of it to read and annotate.

What I Posted:
Monday- I posted a double review for the second volumes of Ms. Marvel and Wonder Woman
Tuesday- I joined the five year anniversary celebration for Top Ten Tuesday by sharing my Top Ten Top Ten Tuesdays
Wednesday- was the start of my new series- Tale as Old as Time. Let me know what you think!
Thursday- I posted a review for my first Forster novel, Howard's End.

Last Week's Wrap-Up

What's Next:
Next week I will be reviewing Just One Day (that's going to be an emotional and lengthy review so prepare yourselves), posting a TTT, and the rest of the week is completely unplanned as usual!

Leave me your links below so I can stop by and say hi!

  2. I like your new feature. Great idea! I love finding old books at antique stores or wherever. I'm doing a bookcover spotlight that will feature a lot of older stuff, but it skews more SF-ish. Anyway this looks fun, will have to check it out.

Nice reviews of the comics too, I haven't read either of those but it looks like they both have good art. Some of Marvel's stuff I haven't liked the art lately, but that one looks good.

    1. Thanks Greg! Your series sounds awesome! I would love to check it out! And yes, I was very pleased with the art in both series, though I prefer the Ms. Marvel art over Wonder Woman.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Oh, some classics there. I'm trying to remember the details of Howards End, though I did only see the movie.

Keen to hear more about Just One Day.

    1. Howard's End had a slow plot, but it was not by any means boring!
Just One Day review will be up tomorrow!

  5. Love the sound of your new feature, going to check it out in a mo! Hamlet is the only Shakspeare play that I enjoyed reading, I like the cover of yours as the Alas Poor Yorick line always makes me laugh a little.

    1. Thanks Trish! I have read bits and pieces of Hamlet, but I'm looking forward to sitting down and reading the whole thing. I do love Hamlet as a character though, he is so interesting.

  8. I love that you're reading such classics!!! Somehow I avoided any and all classics in high school and since haven't looked back. If you want to read some depressing Russian literature, I highly recommend "Spring Torrents" by Turgenev (sp?). I read it in college on a whim and it's short and it fits into the mood of Howard's End. Just a thought...

    Have a great week!!

    1. I love classics! I am getting my degree to be a high school English teacher at the moment- so I read quite a few! I will add Spring Torrents to my TBR. Thanks for the recommendation!

  9. I'm not sure I've ever read Howard's End but I'd like too. I love that so many classics are being republished in beautiful editions that are actually affordable. Love the idea of your new feature! I've yet to read any Gayle Forman partly because I'm not sure if I'm ready for the emotional roller coaster! Enjoy Hamlet! I read it in high school and really liked it though Macbeth will always be my favorite. Have a great week!

    1. I am overwhelmed by the beautiful editions of classics sometimes! I recommend Just One Day- it was a really great read. I have never read the full Macbeth, but I will one day. I tend to enjoy the tragedies more than the comedies in written form.
