I'm very behind in the YA genre, and I really need to fix that! Here's ten staple YA books that I haven't read yet. Let me know which ones I should read first; I own eight of these ten books, so I can get started on this list as soon as I find time to read for fun this semester.
Hosted by: The Broke and the Bookish
Fangirl, Rainbow Rowell
The Darkest Minds, Alexandra Bracken
Code Name Verity, Elizabeth Wein
The Raven Boys, Maggie Stiefvater
Tiger Lily, Jodi Lynn Anderson
Just One Day, Gayle Forman
Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Lani Taylor
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, Michelle Hodkin
I'll Give you the Sun, Jandy Nelson
Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson
You must read Speak! I say that to everyone. LOL I'm listening to my first Rainbow Rowell book right now, Eleanor and Park and loving it. I haven't read Fangirl yet.
ReplyDeleteCode Name Verity, Elizabeth Wein is one I've wanted to read since I first heard about it. I'll Give you the Sun is supposed to be really good. And I've always wanted to try something by Maggie Stiefvater.
Great list!
Alright, I'll move Speak up the list! I really like Eleanor and Park, hope you enjoy!

There are so many good books out there yet to explore! I really want to read I'll Give You The Sun. I've also heard great things about Maggie Stiefvater! I hope you get to read these books soon. My TTT

The darkest minds awesome if you like the people with powers kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to try anything by Rainbow rowell but I do have some on my kindle.
Eleanor and Park was really great, so I'm looking forward to her other books. I've heard lots of good things about The Darkest Minds too!

Ah!! I know! I need to lock myself in my house for like two weeks and just read!
Deletethanks for stopping by!
I say yes to Fangirl and Speak! Both are two of my favorites books of all time.
ReplyDeleteLots of people agree with you on that one! I will have to prioritize them!

I'll Give You the Sun was SO beautiful! I love Jandy Nelson's writing so much, and these characters in this book - I just wanted to give them an enormous hug and a blanket and a cup of hot cocoa. I loved them so much.
ReplyDeleteI actually enjoyed The Darkest Minds a lot more than I thought I would. After so many dystopian novels out there, I'm getting tired of them, but I thought TDM brought something entirely new to the genre. It was unique and it actually made me cry a bit.

Great Imaginations
Glad to hear you loved them! I've heard lots of positive praise for both! Also glad to hear TDM has something unique to it, since dystopian isn't something I read a lot of because it can get repetitive.

Oh Mallory, I do love you; you're always there to make me feel a bit better about some of the books I haven't read. ;) There are so many books on your list I haven't read either - maybe we should try having a mass read-a-long later this year...
ReplyDeleteGreat list!
Yay for being behind!! I'm totally up for some read-a-longs- this year!
Deletethanks for stopping by Jess!
Oh man I'll give you the sun was so, so, so good! You must read that one immediately. Ha
ReplyDeleteI want to read it right this minute!!
Deletethanks for stopping by!
As much as I enjoyed Fangirl, for me it didn't live up to the hype. But, oh my days, The Raven Boys is one of my favourite books and I highly recommend that series! I also really want to read The Darkest Minds - I feel like I'm so behind having not read that.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy all of these when you get around to reading them :)
My TTT
I'm really excited to get into The Raven Boys, it looks so different from anything else out there.

We have a lot of the same books to read, haha - Just One Day, I'll Give You the Sun, Fangirl and The Raven Boys.
ReplyDeleteBut get on Daughter of Smoke and Bone! I'm just finishing the last book in the trilogy and they're all SO GOOD.

I'll give you the sun is one of the best books I've ever read! It was like poetry in prose, I loved it so so much!!
ReplyDeleteAnd Code name Verity left me in tears. It's not really my genre but it was incredible nonetheless :')
