  1. I'm the same with music! I was super surprised when I found out what Jack Johnson and Jamiroquai look like.

    1. That happens to me with music sometimes too, you hear someone's voice, either their singing voice or their writing voice, and then you picture them in your head a certain way. It's surprising how off you can be sometimes.

  2. Fun post. I guess I knew of Hemingway's reputation but never really saw his picture. Great putting faces with names. Stopping by from #Spreadthelove

    1. Yes, Hemingway was quite the jerk to his women, and women in general which is a little off-putting for me. But you have to admit, he was handsome.

  3. Hahaha! I THOUGHT it was 'hot' as in 'attractive' authors from the picture that you used on the link up, but I also thought it might be 'popular'. :) Kerouac was quite the looker -- even if I don't like his books. :)

    1. Yes Kerouac was very, very handsome. I think my jaw dropped when I first Googled him! Though for me I think C.S. Lewis was the biggest surprise.

  4. Note: Did you also know that Dahl was a spy during WWII? That also fascinates me... though it also seems that he was a not-very-nice person as well - but I can't think about that. :)

    1. I did not know that. I have heard his autobiographical works are rather interesting. It's odd to me that he wrote so many great, although rather weird, children's stories with his personality.

  5. Jhumpa Lahiri would be a good contemporary addition to your "hot ladies of literature" list. She is stunning. I mean is it fair to be that gorgeous and a fantastically gifted author? The gods were generous! Jack Kerouac is beautiful! Did I not know this or had I just forgotten? Too bad his writing is sort of misogynistic.

    1. Ooh I will check her out! Google images here I come! I agree with everything you said about Kerouac, there is no denying the man was good looking, which is probably why he was married so many times.

  6. Kerouac breaks my heart just looking at him. Haha. His poor wives! I studied him in college, of course, as an English major. But uncomfortable with his treatment of, or, rather, representation of women, I never read him again....until I came across a story of his in the anthology Still Wild: Short Fiction of the American West. "The Mexican Girl" was the name of his piece. Man, he writes so beautifully. I was completely swept away! But again uncomfortable with his vibe about women. So would I hang a photo of him above my writing desk? No, but maybe on the backside of the door to my writing room.

    1. hahaha! Yes, that's the same way I feel about Hemingway, I hate to give him a compliment on his writing because of the way his works often represent women and the way he treated his real life women, but when a writers is good at what they do, you have to give them props, even if they are a jerk!
I would put Kerouac on my wall, purely for aesthetic purposes!
