What's New:
Well, summer has come to an end. I start classes again on Monday, and I know I won't be able to do much reading this semester, just like last semester, and that has me bummed out. I haven't done much reading in the past two weeks, I just haven't been in the mood. I did start watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer again on Netflix, after taking a little break. I'm now on season six, so I'm hoping to finish the series soon, but at the same time, I don't want it to end.
What I Read:
Still working on The Blood of Olympus. I'm hoping to get it done this weekend before school starts up again, but who knows. I'm enjoying it so far, I just have a hard time convincing myself to pick it up!
What I Posted:
Monday- I reviewed Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein which was excellent!
Tuesday- I posted my syllabus for Adult Fiction 101
Wednesday- I posted my Literary Look on the Gothic Novel
Thursday- I posted Which Adaptation is Right for You? Romeo and Juliet edition
Last Week's Wrap-Up (which features a couple amazing book deals!)
What's Next:
Monday- Reread review for MidWinterblood

DeleteWait ... Buffy's on Netflix?? It is! I just looked. I'll be watching episodes when I can from now on. I miss that show. Aww, hope you can get SOME reading in. Have a great week, Mallory.
ReplyDeleteYes! I was excited to see it was on there too!

I've been reading less, after having a pretty good summer of reading. Not sure what the deal is. Good luck with the Riordan- I just read the Norse sampler this week (first three chapters) and it definitely whet my appetite for more! :)
ReplyDeleteOh! Glad to hear you liked the sample of the new series! I'm thinking that will be interesting because I know next to nothing about Norse mythology!
DeleteThanks for stopping by Greg!
The end of summer definitely is bittersweet. I feel the same way - even if my classes don't start again until September 16th, I've started teaching again, and that definitely takes up a lot of my time, both in the classroom and out of it...
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

Yes, I'm sure teaching keeps you just as busy (if not more busy) as a student! Good luck with the new school year!

I had a break in my Buffy watching during season 4 because I just couldn't deal with some of the storylines! But I'm determined to get to the end one day! I haven't read any of Riordan's books yet, but I totally recognize the feeling of a book just being a bit of a chore rather than a please! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great upcoming week!

Yes! That's when I took my break too! The Glory story-line was a little too dragged out. But so far, season five has sucked me right back in!

I think it's normal to back off reading right before school starts up again. It's like cleansing the palate. Good luck in school.
ReplyDeleteSo true! My brain just wants to relax before it is bombarded with required reading and paper writing.

Is this your first run-through on Buffy!?!?!? Did you get to the episode "Hush"??? That one is absolutely my favorite!!! Ahhh, the good old days of Glory - I wasn't a fan of the final season, tho.
ReplyDeleteI could talk Buffy for days... :) Enjoy and have a great week!!!!!!
Yes, this is my first time watching Buffy! I think that the first three seasons have been the best so far. I have seen "Hush"! I watched it while I was home alone at my apartment and was totally freaked out! I just watched the musical episode in season six and Joss Whedon is a genius. Apparently I could talk Buffy all day too!

I've been binging on Buffy too. That show never gets old! I hope you get back into reading soon and good luck with your classes:)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Sunday Post - http://fuonlyknew.com/2015/08/30/whats-new-on-my-bookshelf-127-and-the-sunday-post/
I love Buffy! She is such a kick-ass female character and I love how Whedon weaves in such strong feminist statements into the show.
DeleteThanks! and Thanks for stopping by!
I am the same way with the series I watch on Netflix. I don't want them to end!
ReplyDeleteI felt so lost after the finale of Mad Men aired this year!

I love Buffy the sad thing is I have seen most of the last season part from the last episode I think I don't know why I think I have been putting it off finishing finally all these years. Have a great week. Good luck with your classes.

I'm eager to see how it all wraps up, but then I never want it to end! I'm sure I will be rewatching it in the future!
DeleteThanks, and Thanks for stopping by!
I've never watched Buffy or read anything by Riordan. I feel so behind. :p
ReplyDeleteI definitely recommend Buffy! It's one of my all-time favorite shows!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I wish you success on this semester!
ReplyDeleteThanks! and Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI loved the Percy Jackson series, but wasn't as thrilled with the first book in the Heroes of Olympus series, so don't know if I'll go on. Hope you're enjoying them though!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Sunday Post
I think I enjoyed the Percy Jackson series more than the Heroes series, but it is still enjoyable!

I have the same problem with classes interfering with reading. :( but I guess we gitta accept it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fact of college, that's for sure.
