Well folks, it's that time of year again! Time to say how fast this year has gone by and how many great books I've read during it. Here's a look at my favorites from this year. I highly recommend each and every one.

Beautiful, beautiful, out of this world writing, and contains so. much. love.
Hilariously witty, fun, and has so many great adaptations

8. Code Name Verity and Rose Under Fire, Elizabeth Wein
Heartbreaking yet full of so much hope, love, and strength
Creepy, emotional, historical fiction, and WWI poetry!

Great characters, so much bromance you'll cry (happy tears), and magic
I really need to read more of Marcus Sedgwick's work! It looks like you've had a great reading year! :-)

CODE NAME VERITY. That book is amazing and so wonderful and sad and THAT BOOK. But I'm horrible and still haven't read ROSE UNDER FIRE or BLACK DOVE, WHITE RAVEN. THE WINNER'S CURSE is the one book I said I'd get read this year and I still haven't read it. And I always hear such wonderful things about Cat Winters's books but I've yet to read them.

I think I loved Rose even more than Verity! It was so, so good.

One of my oral reading students read an excerpt from Code Name Verity last year for the competition and she placed first! I still haven't gotten around to reading it, though...
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! The writing is beautiful and the story is so emotional, it would be even more emotional to hear it out loud I think.
